Welcome to Kinda Crunchy Therapya space dedicated to natural, integrative healing.

The term “crunchy” originated from the association with granola, a staple food among health-conscious, nature-loving individuals in the 1960s and 1970s counterculture movements.

The phrase was used to describe people who embraced natural living, environmentalism, and alternative wellness practices. Over time, "crunchy" became shorthand for a holistic, eco-friendly, and mindful lifestyle.

Meet Yasmeen Faraj, LCSW, CIMHP — holistic therapist and founder of Kinda Crunchy Therapy.

For nearly a decade, Yasmeen has worked with individuals, couples, and families to help them heal and reconnect. She began her career as a preschool teacher and later in early intervention, supporting children with developmental delays and disabilities. These experiences shaped her belief that healing and growth happen when people feel heard, seen, and safe to express themselves.

Over the years, Yasmeen has brought this philosophy into treatment centers, private practice, intensive community programs, and even a therapeutic horse farm, developing a deeply integrated, mind-body approach to therapy.

Today, she’s known for her couple’s workshops, where she creates immersive, heart-opening experiences that help partners reconnect and grow together. At Kinda Crunchy Therapy, Yasmeen invites you to slow down, return to your body, and rediscover the wisdom within — always with compassion, curiosity, and that kinda crunchy touch.

“My passion for the crunchy community and for natural forms of healing deeply shapes how I practice. I believe therapy doesn’t have to feel clinical or cold—it can be warm, grounding, and rooted in authenticity.

Outside of my therapy work, I spend much of my free time amongst plants and herbs, learning from nature’s quiet wisdom, or moving through ecstatic dance to connect more deeply with my body and inner truth. You might also spot me at a local farmers market selling my handmade tallow and herbal skincare through my small-batch line, sMOOches Organics—another expression of my love for natural nourishment and mindful creation.

These practices remind me of the healing that comes from presence, embodiment, and rhythm—qualities I bring into the therapy room as I hold space for clients to reconnect with themselves and find balance in their own natural flow.”
